In the current climate it has become more difficult to find a serious private buyer, there are fewer people wishing to run the risk of being scammed and many more who require the services that a dealer can provide i.e. finance packages, warranties and servicing. There are also great deals to be had when buying a brand new car, so why bother with older models and any costs and hassle associated with them! You may, however achieve a higher sale price if you are able to attract a private buyer!

Using your used car as a part-exchange may prove to be a convenient method of upgrading, it is advisable to investigate this option, although bear in mind that you may pay a premium for the convenience factor, and you may get a better deal if you are a cash buyer.

Should you feel that neither of these options suit you, you may wish to consider an online car buyer, but as with any company, it is advisable to choose which to use carefully – they are not all the same!
